The Works Groups, part of 12 (Force Support) Engineer Group, are a hybrid regular and reserve Army unit based in the East Midlands. The group’s main focus is supporting Defence infrastructure projects and other government departments around the world on operations, in certain cases providing humanitarian aid and supporting civil emergencies.In my role I work as part of a specialist team of reservists within 63 Wks Gp whereby we bring our civilian engineering skills to provide a specialist infrastructure capability to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and international organisations in both peacetime and on operations.Most recently I have been mobilised as part of the Covid Task Force for 5 months, supporting national efforts in the fight against Covid-19.

ABOUT CHRISTOPHER BROWN
I am the MCW project Controls Lead on Sizewell C at Laing O\'Rourke, an international engineering and construction company known for delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure and building projects across the UK, Middle East, and Australia. With over 15 years of cross-functional experience in engineering, project delivery, digital engineering, manufacturing operations, people development, and programme and portfolio management.I am also a commissioned reservist officer within the Royal Engineers, where I contribute to defence infrastructure projects worldwide as part of a hybrid multi-disciplinary design team. My military and civilian experiences intersect, allowing me to bring unique perspectives to both roles. As part of the 12 (Force Support) Engineer Group, I have supported the delivery of defence infrastructure and building projects globally. I was also mobilised as part of the Covid Task Force, where my civilian expertise was utilised to aid the national effort against the pandemic. Additionally, I am a Buildforce Mentor, helping veterans and service leavers transition into rewarding careers in construction. I also manage Laing O\'Rourke\'s Corporate Covenant working group and Military Families Employee Network, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the armed forces community.I am also deeply passionate about the development of young engineers. Over my career, I have functionally managed over 200 Structures Engineers within the business, and am particularly keen on encouraging engineers to leverage their skills to benefit those in need and society at large. This passion, combined with my love for travel and cultural experiences, has led me to undertake development work in Uganda and serve through the Army Reserve.Outside of my professional life, I am a keen sportsman, having played rugby at county level, and competed internationally with the GTUK Taekwondo Squad. I continue to challenge myself through half marathons and Crossfit.
