Chris Brothers is a co-founder and managing partner of Solace Capital Partners, L.P. Solace Capital is a private equity firm which invests in special situations that provide capital to lower middle market companies in the U.S. and Canada specializing in complex or capital constrained private equity and distressed debt for influence investments. Mr. Brothers has over 25 years of experience as a private equity and distressed debt investor as well as a financial advisor specializing in mergers & acquisitions and financial restructurings. Throughout his career as a private equity investor, Mr. Brothers has invested over $1 billion in the equity and/or distressed debt of 30 middle market companies. In addition, he has represented his firms on 15 corporate boards of directors. Prior to co-founding Solace Capital in 2013, Mr. Brothers was a managing director at Oaktree Capital Management from 1996 through 2006. During his decade long tenure as one of the original senior members of Oaktree’s Principal Group, he was responsible for all aspects of private equity and distressed debt investing. In 2006, Mr. Brothers left Oaktree to create a special situations private equity strategy for Saybrook Capital. During his seven year tenure, Mr. Brothers was a managing partner and portfolio manager for the Saybrook Corporate Opportunity Funds. Mr. Brothers began his career as an advisor on mergers & acquisitions and restructuring transactions at Salomon Brothers Inc, now the investment banking arm of Citigroup, and Price Waterhouse. Mr. Brothers received his MBA and undergraduate degrees from Michigan State University after completing a five-year accelerated joint graduate/undergraduate program. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the City of Hope Investment Committee and a member of the RAND Center for Global Risk and Security Board.Specialties: Private Equity, Distressed Investing, Mergers & Acquisitions
