ABOUT CHRISTOPH MOELLERS
During my PhD in Chemistry I had the opportunity to work in the Laboratory of the University Hospital in Regensburg helping the Clinicians to make appropriate decisions on our patients. This experience to support patients and clinicians with valuable data has been rewarding and supported my passion about IVD laboratories. Mainly influenced by my father, who was running a small heating company I knew my future role lies within the industry. Therefore, I started my career in the global support at Roche Diagnostics in Switzerland solving field issues within the general chemistry portfolio. The aquisition of Boehringer Mannheim allowed me to change into an R&D with Roche at the intersection between instrument and reagent development. The cooperation with Hitachi allowed me to learn about different cultures, especially the Japanese way of development. This expertise qualified myself to support Olympus Dx in their development of the Immunochemistry product line as program leader. After successful market introduction the Dx part of Olympus was aquired by Beckman Coulter and I got the opportunity to lead the chemistry reagent development of Beckman in California. During this assignment I was able to grow my direct leaderships skills running an organisation of more than 400 scientists and engineers around the globe. As a great achievement I feel proud about the set-up of a reagent and an instrument development teams in our Chinese site in Suzhou, which has been continously grown since my initiation. Due to family reasons in 2014 we returned back to Germany and since than I am accountable for the laboratory automation and informatics business unit of Beckman Coulter. As a unit leader I enjoy the strategic thinking, the organizational talent management and the continous decision making with a strong focus on our objective to support all patients around the globe. The Danaher Business System and the rigorous use of data is very much in line with my scientific mindset.
