   The Intercept Carbon mission is to remove the carbon embodied in organic wastes on its way back to the ecosystem and covert it to valuable, durable products that generate profits for community stakeholders while locking away carbon for centuries.More than 100B metric tonnes of carbon are processed through the earth’s biosphere every year in the Biogenic Carbon Cycle. Photosynthesis fixes carbon from air & water in biomass, which ultimately returns its carbon to the atmosphere through decomposition emissions of CO2, CH4 & N2O.Humans interact with the Biogenic Cycle in virtually everything we do, and society has established a wide array of collection systems for organic waste stream management. Mining even a small fraction of the carbon flowing through existing aggregation channels offers enormous opportunity for sequestration & valorization of waste carbon throughout the US and world beyond.
