ABOUT CHRISTINE STRAND
I thrive in the messy, high-impact intersections between science, systems, and people. I build the foundations that let R&D teams do their best work and get medicines to patients faster. My instincts were shaped early and under pressure. First in a high-volume Level 1 Trauma Center; that taught me to read complex systems fast, anticipate failure points, and stay steady when stakes are high. Then in a critical raw materials QC lab; that reinforced that rigor and attention to detail is what separates systems that hold from those that fail. Those experiences shaped an operating style I\'ve pressure-tested ever since: in a bleeding-edge CRISPR methods lab at the Broad, then through a 6yr R&D flagship buildout at BMS that included a 10x team scale-up, merger, and relocation; all while navigating a global pandemic. I didn\'t just survive those environments. I grew and built through them. I\'m a scientist-operator: systems-minded enough to see structural bottlenecks others miss, credible enough in the science for researchers to trust me, and experienced enough in change management to know that the hardest part of building any system isn\'t the build. It\'s alignment and adoption. SYSTEMS FOUNDATIONSDIGITAL•Product Owner for a functional genomics LIMS/ELN; owned user discovery through deployment.•Building suite of digital tools to advise at key value inflection points in drug discovery and inform portfolio prioritization. PHYSICAL•Led relocation of a 19-person R&D team during a 600-person site consolidation, from lab design to full restart of scientific operations. HUMAN•Co-architected operational backbone (SOPs, workflows, culture) for BMS Cambridge\'s Discovery Bio team\'s initial scale up from <10 to 100+ researchers.•Lead a 600+ member biopharma community, scaled it 3x in the last year. SCIENTIFIC•Developed and productized high-throughput CRISPR screening methods at the Broad, transforming theoretical concepts into deployable platforms for DepMap & a Multi-Pharma Consortium.•Converted functional genomic technologies (DMS, digenic screening, peptide tiling) into enabling platforms for internal drug discovery programs at BMS.
