ABOUT CHRIS RUTHERFORD

Director of Learning and Teaching at the School of Social Sciences and Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University, with responsibility for student learning and the quality of all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes delivered globally to over students.Lecturing and consultancy experience in supply chain strategy, risk and resilience, supply network design, operations management, data analytics, demand planning, forecasting and inventory management. Expertise in the design and use of problem-based and activity-based learning methods to enhance student learning. Invited speaker and visiting fellow at a number of universities across Europe and further a field. As director of my own consulting firm I have successfully helped many organizations over the last 18 years improve their supply chain planning processes. My research is industry based and focussed on solving practical supply chain management problems, particularly in the areas of supply chain process improvement, demand planning and inventory optimisation. An experienced PhD supervisor I have an active research interest in supply chain adaptation to change. I led a 3 year funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) to design an adaptive supply chain capability for the future.
