Chris is an accomplished senior executive with over 34 years of extensive experience leading strategy, governance, finances, human resources, information technology, and operational initiatives in the association community. She expertly leads the strategic direction, business operations, property management, and research/education efforts for AAMFT, overseeing a nearly $7M annual budget and 25K+ members. A collaborative communicator, Chris guides the Board of Directors and key stakeholders on targeted measures to increase competitive status in the behavioral healthcare industry. Chris graduated college with a math and economics degree and a hunger to learn. Her innate curiosity and internal drive were quickly recognized, and she became the go-to person to identify solutions to challenging situations. Her business leadership has resulted in the creation of $2M+ in development funds for AAMFT, funding for major building upgrades, reserve funding available during the Covid crisis, and a fiscal safety net that buffered a significant property sale. Chris is a visionary thinker adept at instituting process improvements. At AAMFT, she created an aggressive reserve management strategy that expanded investments into structured notes, bolstering earnings and allowing an early pay off of the organization’s building mortgage. She also proactively secured a large line of credit that the organization leveraged during the pandemic ensuring the continuation of business for all three of the AAMFT corporations. A strategic and empathetic leader, Chris cares deeply about her organization and the people she works with. She is a dedicated advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and works to break down barriers in the workplace. At AAMFT, she modernized the benefits structure and created more inclusive policies, fostering a culture of trust and safety that has led to high staff retention and a positive impact on the workforce, particularly women, single mothers, and employees early in their careers.Key Accomplishments:• Led 30+ years of perfect financial audits for 501c(6), 501c(3), and 501c(2) organizations, including 15 years of Uniform Guidance (UG) audits required for more strictly evaluated federal grants.• Developed organization scorecard and benchmarks, creating financial transparency for the Board of Directors, members, and staff. Decreased dues-dependent revenue from 72% to 54%.• Collaborated with Board, executive committee, and finance committee to secure approval of development funding for $900K and $1.2M.
