About Christine Ashley
Most recently I was working across the state with Down Home NC to expand Medicaid! Today o am the regional field director for the 2024 elections. As a state campaign coordinator, I am clear that we have a responsibility to help our legislators own the policy! working families cannot wait. Completed my Masters in Peace and Social Transformation at Earlham School of Religion. I am now in my second year of a M.Div program concentrating on social justice. My work in education shifted to political advocacy and organizing through my work with Friends Committee on National Legislation based in DC where I trained citizen advocates to push 12 policy issues with their legislators across the country.m. My interests and volunteerism (outreach, networking and fundraising and political and electoral campaigns) include outreach and working on behalf of sustainability and social justice issues with a background in recycling water, bio-gas production and solar energy. I have years of experience training and organizing using virtual and digital platforms and have extensively worked on virtual event planning. As a connector, I work with individuals, nonprofits, local state and federal government officials to ensure broad-reaching change happens. I also have a strong educational administrative background in middle and high schools serving as principal and head of school … what a treat it was to and teach 4/6 graders at a Montessori school! I have managed teams of 50+ schoolteachers and support staff, field organizers and canvassers. Flexible, resilient, and a big picture person, I enjoy the challenges inherent in every organization, ensuring that the work is relevant and necessary… together we can, must and will protect our neighbors (two and four-leggeds and winged ones) from harm.
Experience
Deputy Field Director
Apr 2026 — Present · NC, US
As Deputy Field Director, I support planning, implementing, and running Down Home’s electoral field program as well as voter outreach and civic engagement programs. Down Home’s voter outreach program aims to transform elections from the grassroots by electing working-class champions to office. Down Home is working to engage voters in small towns and rural areas through grassroots organizing, leadership development, and door-to-door canvassing. We are committed to building a long-term base of working-class power through both community organizing and participating in elections on all levels of government. It is past time to build a powerful multiracial base that wins changes for poor and working-class people in rural North Carolina; I am committed to building power for the working class.
