ABOUT CHRISTINE SHATTLES HARR

After visiting Montego Bay, Jamaica on a mission trip through the University of Georgia in 2017, I discovered a new interest that I hope to practice and delight in for the rest of my life. I love volunteering and caring for others. While serving in Jamaica, I volunteered in both an orphanage and a special-needs care center. Realizing that my service contributed to the beautiful, smiling faces of the children and families that my group worked with is something that I want to be a part of forever. This trip truly opened my eyes and allowed me to realize what and who I aspire to be. I knew my heart belonged to caring for people. Upon returning to the United States, I immediately made the decision to pursue a career in nursing. Throughout my experience in critical care, I have learned that nursing is more than just a career, it\'s a passion. I am incredibly blessed with the opportunity to practice this passion for loving, caring for, listening to and comforting others through my occupation. I have also learned that being a nurse requires a fierce amount of both mental and physical stamina. As a critical care nurse I see patients every day fighting for their life, and for 12 hours I am fighting with them. In order to give the best possible care to patients, I believe in self care, as well as continuous education and the pursuit of new learning opportunities.
