Responsible for the privileging process of medical staff members to ensure all individuals with clinical privileges have and maintain clinical competency to provide patient care within the scope of their training, licensure and privileges as granted by the University of Vermont Health Network Board of Trustees. • Responsible for the administrative functions of the medical staff committees, as well as the FPPE, OPPE, and peer review processes of the UVMHN Medical Staff. • Ensure ongoing regulatory readiness and compliance of the UVM Health Network with state/federal regulation,national accreditation standards, and compliance with medical staff bylaws and written policies and procedures. • Oversee the day-to-day operations of medical staff services & have direct oversight of the corresponding quality and regulatory requirements.• Develop and implement workflow processes to improve & enhance the operations and outcomes related to medical staff affairs.• Possess an elevated level of professional judgment and decision making capability. • Provide functional guidance to leadership: hires, disciplines, and transfers assigned personnel; performs coaching and counseling.• Interacts and collaborates with UVMHN Medical Staff members, Medical Staff leadership, Service Line Leaders, Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, Network and Hospital administrators, Medical Group leaders and administrators, and this department’s leaders and staff, as well as leaders and staff including but not limited to the following departments/areas -General Counsel, Risk Management, Epic, Data Management, Information Systems, Provider Recruitment and Onboarding, Graduate Medical Education and Human Resources.• Serve as a subject matter expert and interface with UVMHN Compliance in coordination of the activities of external regulators for whom UVMHN has accountability to NY & VT State regulations, Joint Commission, CMS, and other national accreditation bodies.
