I’m not sure which came first, my love for travelling or my career in tourism, but one thing is for certain, travel takes up most of my time. Whether I’m giving someone my favorite castles to visit in Scotland or I’m researching cafes for someone to visit in a city I\'ve never been to, nothing gets my heart beating like the thought of travel. I have a freakishly good memory and can recommend places I visited 5 years ago by finding it on a map. I also have a knack for finding the best small towns for pit stops on long road trips (if you’re ever on a road trip on the South Island of New Zealand, stretch your legs in Geraldine). I’ve worked a variety of jobs at a wide array of tourism companies, from Disneyland, an island, a hostel, a remote lodge only accessible by boat or a 3-day hike, and I currently work for my hometown\'s DMO; and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Working in tourism gives me the chance to give others the chance to have an adventure, to make memories, to experience all the world has to offer. My favorite travel memory from 2021 would be seeing blue whales and humpback whales while on a boat tour in Monterey during Fourth of July weekend. Though 2020 was limited in travel, my favorite memory would have to be a trip to Perth, Scotland to meetup with two friends I lived/worked with in New Zealand the year prior.
