My private practice is for individuals and families that have been affected by addiction. My approach is compassion-based and the goal is to empower clients to find their way towards healing and recovery by offering tools and guidance toward a new way of viewing themselves. I provide all clients with education around addiction and community resources that will allow them to establish a support system needed to reach their goals. My approach incorporates a mindfulness practice, focusing on the “here and now” - ultimately letting go of shame and regrets from the past and fear of the future. While practicing motivational interviewing, my belief is that a transformation occurs by simply \"being\" with a client and establishing a therapeutic alliance. By offering a new perspective and encouraging compassion towards self and others, clients start to experience gratitude and self awareness that brightens their outlook and life experiences. I explore what spirituality means to them and utilize it in my clinical work when clients choose to.I have 20 years of professional experience in mental health and addiction services in NYC and Maine including inpatient, outpatient and residential settings. I\'ve worked in both administrative and clinical capacities in the public and private sectors, with a demonstrated capability to improve outcomes. Providing therapy to recovering addicts and their families in a private office setting is where this rich and varied experience has taken me. My supervisory style similarly provides a balance of empathy and accountability, supervisees allows them to see the changes they need to make in order to find fulfillment in their work.
