ABOUT CHRISTINE BOYD
15+ years of journalism experience in digital, TV, radio and newspapers. In September 2015, joined CBC Calgary as digital senior producer. Previously, CBC News network assignment editor for Quebec and the Atlantic provinces; senior producer for CBC digital national news team; senior producer for CBC digital national copy editing team; reporter/editor at The Globe and Mail, The Ottawa Citizen, The Calgary Straight, The East Kootenay Weekly, etc. • Proven supervisory and leadership abilities: Assigned a team of network reporters and producers in eastern provinces as well as coordinating daily news coverage with five regional CBC newsrooms and network shows such as The National, World Report, World at Six, News Network and digital. At CBC digital news, directly supervised daily digital news team of more than a dozen people and, prior to that, a team of 18 editors handling work from 60 writers around the country. • Proven ability to work under pressure: Led CBC national news coverage on major stories including the train explosion that killed 47 people and ripped the heart out of Lac-Megantic, Que. Worked constantly under instant news deadlines at CBCNews.ca, leading news teams and as an editor and writer. Wrote many late-breaking stories for Globe\'s front page. • Developed CBCNews.ca guidelines on online writing and editing; delivered related training to 100+ online, radio and TV staff across country. • Developed multiple workshops ranging from one-hour webinars and interactive study-at-your-own-speed webinars to three-day in-person training sessions for CBC digital news, mainly on writing and editing for online. • Contributed to textbook Online News Fundamentals: An introduction to journalism on CBCNews.ca. • Master of journalism with honours from Carleton University.
