ABOUT CHRISTINA BRACCO
I am a creative and driven manager in the live event and theatre industry looking to transition into a career utilizing my versatile administrative skills to make a real difference in people\'s lives. I thrive on creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, whether behind the scenes or behind a desk. Part of the beauty of live theatre is that it is fleeting. No performance or production is exactly the same, and even faster than it came to be, it is gone. I never thought that this would apply to my entire career or the theatre business at large, but alas, here we are. Since the 2016 election, the fleeting nature of my career really started to take a toll on me. I loved my job and I was great at it, but I started to notice more and more how the intricate problems I enjoyed solving every day had little impact on the world outside of the theater walls. Instead of dedicating my skills to the theatre, helping distract people from the real world, I want to make the real world a better place. I’m chomping at the bit to put my energies and talents towards something more substantial, meaningful, and impactful. If given the chance, would I change anything about my career? Absolutely not. I have learned so much from my career in the arts that I will hold onto for the rest of my life. When you learn how to manage some of the most brilliant creative people of our time, you gain more emotional intelligence than you ever could from a traditional setting. When hard deadlines involve a paying audience showing up to judge your work, time management becomes inherent in everything you do. When something goes wrong in front of said audience, you learn to calmly problem-solve under intense scrutiny in an instant. When constantly dealing with multiple departments and moving pieces in multiple locations, you learn to love solving complex scheduling puzzles. When getting the next job tomorrow relies on excelling at your current job today, you put 110% into every opportunity that comes your way. When you live paycheck to paycheck, you learn the real value of a dollar. When you get a job that lasts longer than a month, you savor every minute of it. And when you lose a job due to circumstances out of your control, you learn to move on to the next one. It’s time for me to move on to the next one. I’m ready to get off the sidelines and use my unique set of skills to make a difference in the world.
