ABOUT CHRISTINA SAYUT
I’m a 21-year-old design enthusiast originally from Melbourne, Florida, but right now I can be found in the Midwest at the University of Notre Dame. I’ve completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design with a specialization in Visual Communication, complemented by minors in studio art and musical theater from the University of Notre Dame. My B.F.A. is marked by the completion of my thesis project — which I worked on since my junior year at Notre Dame. My thesis project is the creation of a comprehensive brand identity system for “Kinware,” a company that I conceptualized. The brand focuses on my own ceramic work, with an emphasis on values of inclusivity, familiarity and joy — each piece is thrown and altered to have design tweaks that are more form-fitting to the hand, catering to all users but with special care for those who have hand tremors. My passion for art and design was sparked during my freshman year, when I took my first ceramics class. Since then, I have gone on a wild, creative journey where I’ve blended creativity and problem-solving, with a vision to use design as a catalyst for societal change. I love exploring the illustrative aspects of design — my favorite programs within the Adobe Creative Suite are Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Xd and After Effects. I also have experience using Figma, Maya and Blender. My coursework has exposed me to typography, branding, marketing, UI/UX web design, motion design, and this semester I have been working with data visualization and video art installation. Journalism is another interest of mine, as I have spent the past few years working for The Observer, a student-run newspaper serving the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary\'s College and Holy Cross College. I started my time with The Observer as a graphic designer in March of 2022, and then added a second job as the Ad Design Manager in August of 2022. Deciding that I could not get enough of the basement of South Dining Hall, I became the Graphics Editor in March of 2023. During my term as Graphics Editor, I have helped coordinate a team of talented designers and create covers for our “Irish Insider” series — special editions of the paper during our football season. Since September of 2022, I have been working as the Social Media Assistant & Content Creator for Notre Dame Campus Ministry. I focused on storytelling and promoting making God known, loved and served on Notre Dame’s campus. I’ve created content for both Instagram and Facebook, focusing on evangelization and connection with the student body.
