Research included interviews and surveys among health professionals and parents, and online testing of ads.U.S. Department of Education: Conducts research with parents and educators to guide communications on a variety of topics, including school assessments, school safety, and early childhood development. Leadership Conference Education Fund: Conducted research to guide an advocacy campaign in support of Common Core State Standards. Components included survey conducted nationally and in three states to determine predictive factors for support of/opposition to Common Core, focus groups in three states with parents and teachers, and telephone interviews with community leaders. Presented findings to Colorado state legislature and governor’s office.

ABOUT CHRISTINA MAZZOLA NICOLS
Christina M. Nicols, MPH, MS, MS offers more than 30 years of experience in market research, communications planning, campaign implementation, contract management, and evaluation. She has substantial experience leading campaigns and contracts for Federal agencies and offices, including her current work leading communications research and testing for CDC\'s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) and her recent management of program development and communication support for the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) within the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). She also led a campaign under the HITECH Act to support the nation\'s transition to electronic health records (EHRs). The campaign won the PRWeek 2013 Public Sector Campaign of the Year award, a Gold SABRE award, and 24 others. Christina was named Washington PR Woman of the Year by WWPR in 2015.Christina understands public health from diverse perspectives, as her work has spanned the health sector. Her clients have included federal agencies and offices within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and USDA; provider organizations, such as the American College of Cardiology; pharmaceutical companies, such as GlaxoSmithKline; payers, such as WellPoint; and patient advocacy groups, such as HER2 Support Group and Families Fighting Flu.With extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods and strategic planning, Christina conducts surveys, focus groups, interviews and ethnographic research among a variety of target audiences and stakeholders to develop communication programs and measure their effectiveness. Specific areas of expertise include message and materials development and testing, audience segmentation, and process and outcome evaluations. Christina was an adjunct professorial lecturer at The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health from 2012 to 2019, teaching classes in market research, advocacy for public health, and health communication within the Master of Public Health program.
