Administer first aid treatment, such as CPR, wound care, bleeding control, and splinting broken bones- Use specialized equipment like backboards, stretchers, oxygen tanks, and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs)- Monitor vital signs and provide appropriate pre-hospital care- Gather and record patient’s medical history and vital information for handover to receiving medical professionals- Safely transport patients in an ambulance to hospitals- Communicate with emergency dispatchers and provide updates on patient status during transport- Handover patients to hospital staff, briefing them on the patient’s condition and care provided- Ensure the safety of patients and bystanders at the scene of an accident or emergency- Work with police, firefighters, and other emergency personnel to manage the situation- Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient care and the services provided- Maintain medical equipment and supplies in the ambulance- Valid certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and BLS- Completion of a state-approved exam and continuing education to maintain certification- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, such as stretchers with patients- Comfortable working in various settings, including outdoors, in stressful, fast-paced environments- Strong ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and medical professionals- Capacity to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations- Compassionate and empathetic in providing care to individuals in distress- Critical thinking to quickly assess and prioritize patient care- Ability to follow medical protocols while adjusting to dynamic, real-world situations- Knowledge of safety protocols, including infection control and handling of hazardous materials- Familiarity with legal regulations regarding patient privacy (e.g, HIPAA compliance).
