ABOUT CHRISTIE GIBSON
Christie is a Chamber-ranked partner with McMillan LLP, and consistently recognized by Best Lawyers in Municipal law and Real Estate law. Her practice focuses on land use planning law, but also encompasses other aspects of municipal and environmental law. She appears regularly before the Ontario Land Tribunal, and has a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School (2013), B.A. in Economics from Cornell University (2010), and certificate in Women in Leadership from Cornell University\'s SC Johnson College of Business (2019). Christie is active as a leader in the legal profession and land use industry. She serves on the steering committee for Cambridge Forums, and is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (former chair of the ULI Toronto Mentorship Program and steering committee member of WLI) and the Building Industry and Land Development Association. Christie is a mentor with the Osgoode Women’s Network, and hosts an annual widely-attended EDI/CPD event for female municipal/planning lawyers. She is the Past-Chair to the Ontario Bar Association’s Municipal Law Executive and has served on the Canadian Bar Association’s Municipal Law Executive. Christie is a regular on the speaking circuit. In addition, Christie has guest lectured planning law courses at the University of Waterloo and Toronto Metropolitan University and regularly publishes articles through the Ontario Bar Association. Following an eight-year board term, Christie is now advisor to the United World Colleges National Committee of Canada.Christie volunteered extensively during law school (the UN Office of Staff Legal Assistance, Law in Action Within Schools, Community and Legal Aid Services Programme, and the Osgoode Mentor Program). She was a member of the Osgoode Faculty Council (Academic Policy Committee) and an associate editor for her school\'s law review. She also acted as a research assistant for two professors. Prior to law school, Christie studied economics, international relations, and French at Cornell University. At Cornell, she was the president of the International Student Admission Ambassadors, vice-president of the International Affairs Society (Model United Nations), a member of the Campus Life Student Advisory Committee, and a teaching assistant in the economics and computer science departments. She also attended Mahindra United World College of India on full scholarship from the Alberta Government.
