ABOUT CHRISTIE SELL

In 2006, I was elected judge to Hamilton County General Sessions Court. I am a Chattanooga native and I have devoted over 30 years to volunteering in various capacities. Recently, I have been endorsed for reelection by Fraternal Order of Police, the International Brotherhood of Police Officers and the Firefighters Association and have a 99.15% approval rating by the Chattanooga Bar Association. Both the Tennessee and Chattanooga Bar Associations elected me as a Fellow for integrity and service to the legal profession and community. I am an American Lung Association 2014 Woman of Distinction and have received the 2008 Outstanding Judicial Services Award and 2010 statewide Leadership Award from the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Off the bench, I serve on the steering committees for the creation of a new Family Justice Center and a new Mental Health Court. I also serve on the Safer Streets committee for the City\'s Budgeting for Outcomes Initiative. I am an active board member for the Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute and serve as the Secretary on Chattanooga Bar Association Board of Governors. I have served on the boards of the American Heart Association; Alzeimers Association, Restart, Notre Dame High School Alumni Association, Southeast Tennessee Legal Association of Women, and the Young Lawyers Division President, Vice President and Secretary. I am a graduate of Leadership Chattanooga and the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law programs, a member of the American Judges Assication, the National Women Association of Judges, the Tennessee and Chattanooga Bar Associations, SETLAW, Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association, Downtown Rotary and Harrison Ruritan clubs. I am dedicated to our community both on and off the bench and faithfully serve Hamilton County as a judge, committed to the rule of law and the safety of our citizens. I am most proud and grateful as a mother of two teens and as a wife.
