ABOUT CHRISTIE ABENDROTH
After exploring the field of education, through volunteer work at Brighton High School, an AmeriCorps VISTA position with the Boston Public Schools Office of Welcome Services, and serving as an Access Counselor at Bottom Line, I pivoted into a staff-facing role at Year Up. There, I supported the collective pursuit of equity in educational and professional opportunities for young adults via a variety of HR roles. Serving at Year Up for over nine years provided me with momentum to seek out another community-focused organization - in July 2022, I accepted the inaugural HR Director role at the Boston Athletic Association, which quickly morphed into a Head of HR position as the organization reorganized and positioned itself for continued evolution. For an organization with well over 100 years of history, the B.A.A. is not sitting on its laurels and has a small (but mighty) staff team that is determined to provide increasingly excellent programming and opportunities to participants.
