ABOUT CHRISTIAN VAN DE WERKEN

Hi, I’m Christian Van de Werken and I’m a Strategic Policy Officer for Cyber and Emerging Technology with FinCEN. To this role, I bring deep technical experience as well as a professional background heavily based in consulting with 10 years of both commercial and public sector engagements. From 2012 through 2015, I was an independent consultant and I served federal clients, and from 2015 through 2021 I worked with clients in the technology and financial sectors as well as clients in the retail industry (principally in supply chain). During my last commercial engagement (February 2019 - December 2021) I led one of the largest blockchain implementations to-date at IBM and managed 5 large global teams comprised of 61 people. Colleagues know me as a creative thinker who approaches projects with tenacious determination, a macroscopic focus, broad communication skills that can reach across levels / job functions, and an appreciation for working with large and diverse teams. My technical CV is available on GitHub here: https://github.com/vandewerken.
