Subject Matter Expert for Electrical, Instrumentation and Control SystemAfter the company\'s reorganization to improve the company\'s cost structure, I was assigned as an individual contributor and serve as a subject matter expert for electrical, instrumentation and control system. This new assignment provides me the capability to focus on addressing EI & C issues that can provide better business value, reduce system cost, improve security and process safety as well as mentor and train new engineers.I am writing more specific company best practices and guidelines, learn and apply new tools for more efficient and effective design, engineering and construction of EI & C systems. My main slogan is \"safety and security by design.\" if you want a safe and secure installation or system, you need to make sure that safety and security is embedded in your design; and you need to do it in a the most cost effective way.To do this, I consider, not only the short term cost. rather, I always have the perspective of a system\'s life cycle cost, in relation to the company\'s short term and long term objectives.With my background in business management, electrical and instrumentation and control engineering, project management, Construction, Maintenance and IT, I am able to provide an integrated perspective on the subject EI & C. For example, most EI & C engineers consider SCADA just as a set of hardware and software used to monitor process. From my perspective, SCADA is a very limiting perspective. The term I use is \"Process Data and Information System.\" By having the perspective that the SCADA is a PDIS, I am able to recognize the multi-dimensional relationships of the process, instrumentations, communication and networks, System documentation, Data Structure, Security, Safety, HMI, Basic and Advanced Control Systems, Databases, Finance and Business Needs, Reliability, etc.
