ABOUT CHRISTIANNE MICALLEF
An accredited Consultant Pharmacist in Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS), working across primary and secondary care, supporting clinicians, patients and the public to optimise antimicrobial management and improve population health. An innovative, highly-experienced healthcare leader, specialised in clinical microbiology with accredited project management and behavioural science skills, who has worked in national, hospital and academic environments leading continuous improvement programmes, to deliver required targets and outcomes in the challenging speciality of Infection Management. This also included the development & launch of a pioneering antifungal stewardship (AFS) programme at an East of England tertiary centre, which has contributed significantly to many peer-reviewed publications and adoption of AFS in many other hospitals, both in the UK and internationally, thereby improving patient care and outcomes both locally and beyond. A committed, compassionate transformational NHS leader with more than 25 years experience, who networks effectively and supports many other healthcare professionals across functions, to share knowledge and bring consistency to the delivery of patient care and improve population health.Has actively consulted for several pharmaceutical companies on AMS for more than 15 years.Research interests include: antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), behaviour change in AMS & MDROs.Publications:
