About Christianna Flynn
I have a doctorate in clinical psychology, with an emphasis on traumatic stress psychology. My main clinicals interests are in traumatic stress and multiculturalism, with a particular interest in how they interact with one another. I am currently enjoying a postdoctoral fellowship at the Road Home Program in Chicago, an academic medical setting, where I am delivering Cognitive Processing Therapy, in a massed treatment format, in 2-week accelerated treatment program. I completed my internship at VA Illiana in Danville, Illinois, where I enjoyed rotations in the Residential Rehabilitative Treatment Program, the PTSD Clinic, and the outpatient substance use disorder clinic. I have also completed additional training in other VA\'s, with a focus on general mental health and PTSD recovery, in both outpatient and residential treatment environments. I have strong assessment experience with children, adolescents, and adults, having completed a full year of additional assessment training in a community mental health setting with children and adolescents. I also have adult testing experience in the Veteran and inpatient populations.I am a skilled group therapy facillitator, with significant experience in delivering Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), Seeking Safety, process-oriented approaches (including experience with LGBT process groups), and other trauma-focused group care. I particularly enjoy facilitating groups in residential treatment settings, where one can really start to see cohorts take shape. I have a strong background in trauma-focused evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy. During my postdoctoral fellowship, I am working to gain experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares (CBT-N) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). I have trained in a variety of mental health settings, including an inpatient hospital, college counseling, Veterans administrations, community mental health, and now, academic medicine. I have also enjoyed teaching undergraduate psychology courses, program evaluation, assessment, curriculum development, and digital book coordination for both undergraduate and master\'s level programs. A self-reflective person, I greatly enjoy working in multicultural environments and strive to continue to develop multicultural competency and cultural humility. I am seeking dynamic trauma-focused positions, and have interest in intensive intensive outpatient, residential, and outpatient settings.
