My involvement in the CU Boulder FSAE team has been my most valuable opportunity for growth as an engineer. The experience in design, manufacturing, leadership and project management has been an invaluable asset in setting myself apart from my peers. The highlights of my time on the team include:My role as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer- Oversaw design for manufacturing, purchasing and fabrication of all subsystems on the vehicle- Lead machining days, guiding teams of young engineers in manufacturing components on the car- Designing fixturing solutions for multiple subsystems including the frame and suspension components- Hands on manufacturing experience on the most complex components on the car. This included CNC operations, frame welding and sheet metal componentsLead designer of multiple integral subsystems- The exhaust system, where I utilized first principles fluid dynamics, wave propagation studies and CFD to optimized flow on our vehicles exhaust. Built a model using the GT Suite to simulate engine flow dynamics. Used decision matrices to analyze material choices- The seat, floor and firewall, used SolidWorks assembly\'s to design carbon fiber panel enclosure for the vehicle. Performed an ergonomics study to determine driver ergonomic preferences, reflecting this in the design developed shimming system to suit a broader range of driver preferences. Manufactured custom Crefoam seat insert.
