About Christiane Pagé

I have been part of Syracuse University since 1998, across Newhouse, the iSchool, and now Maxwell, and in that time I have built relationships across every corner of this institution and this city. My work sits at the intersection of international education, student success, and research program management — and it has always centered on one question: what does a person actually need to succeed, and how do I make that possible? In my current role as Associate Director of CQMI at Maxwell, I manage the full operational lifecycle of 80 to 100 non-traditional learners annually through the Institute for Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (IQMR), the center\'s flagship program — working scholars, junior faculty, and doctoral students from across MENA, Africa, Latin America, and beyond. This includes international travel logistics, proactive retention outreach, visa support, and serving as their primary point of contact from admission through alumni engagement. Before IQMR, I managed the Transnational NGO Initiative at the Moynihan Institute, a Maxwell executive education program for senior NGO leaders from around the world, developed in close partnership with Maxwell’s Executive Education office. Non-traditional, accomplished learners in high-stakes, intensive programs have been my professional community for a long time. What sets my work apart from standard program administration is that I operate from the intellectual core of the work. I help shape the IQMR experience from within its academic content with genuine personal grounding in qualitative and multi-method research pedagogy alongside its faculty co-directors who lead the academic program, I have presented my own scholarly work at international conferences in Seoul, Paris, Porto Alegre, and Istanbul. My connection to distance-based graduate education is personal: I completed my M.S. in Communications Management as a distance learner through what is now SU’s College of Professional Studies, while living in Ottawa. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of what working adults navigating graduate education. French and English are both my native languages — lived experience, not a credential. I am a member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators and NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. Earlier in my career I held progressive roles at the National Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Civilization, before the National Capital Commission, where my work on Canada’s 125th Anniversary Celebrations earned me the Governor General of Canada’s Medal.

Experience

  1. Associate Director

    Syracuse University - Maxwell School

    Jul 2017 — Present

I oversee the day-to-day operations and finances of CQMI, a Maxwell center advancing qualitative and multi-method research, research transparency, and methods training across the university. This includes managing sponsored and unrestricted fund portfolios across multiple NSF awards, administering the center’s budget and compliance functions, and planning a portfolio of events ranging from campus-facing workshops on the Maxwell campus and SU-wide programming to international workshops at Lubin House in New York City. IQMR is the center’s flagship event, drawing 80–100 non-traditional learners annually from accross US and Iinternaltional institions and across MENA, Africa, Latin America through NSF funding. I am part of the three-person leadership team alongside the Center Director and a Georgetown faculty co-director, operating in a matrix model with weekly cross-institutional coordination. I manage the full participant lifecycle for IQMR — international travel logistics (including Fly America Act compliance and visa support), proactive retention outreach, at-risk intervention, sponsored award administration, and serving as primary point of contact from nomination through alumni engagement. I also help shape the IQMR experience from within its academic substance, working alongside faculty co-directors with personal grounding in qualitative and multi-method research methods. From 2018 to 2025, I carried QDR Data Specialist responsibilities concurrently with this full portfolio — supporting data curation and archiving at the Qualitative Data Repository, contributing to its sustainability strategy by helping launch the institutional membership program and leading outreach campaigns for data deposit recruitment, and co-authoring peer-reviewed research on ethical data sharing. Systems: PeopleSoft; 25Live; Qualtrics; Zotero; Slate (IQMR 2026 Microcredential pilot); SU Procurement & Contracting; Sponsored Award Management Tool; DataInsights.
