As a Worker Safety & Health Instructor at PNNL, I am responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive safety training programs that support a culture of safety and compliance across the lab. My role involves training employees in critical areas such as lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, fall protection, respirator usage, lift equipment operation, and shop crane use. I work closely with members of the craft workforce, the Operational Systems Directorate, and research organizations to ensure that all personnel receive the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to perform their work safely and effectively.In this role, I spend a significant portion of my time leading both classroom-based instruction and hands-on training exercises. I also administer written examinations and practical assessments to evaluate worker competency and ensure compliance with safety standards. Beyond training delivery, I collaborate with subject matter experts and program owners to develop and refine safety curricula, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Additionally, I support instructional design efforts to enhance training effectiveness and participate in program evaluations to assess the impact of safety initiatives.This position occasionally requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and exposure to outdoor elements or radiologically posted areas. Through my work, I am committed to fostering a safe and knowledgeable workforce, helping to maintain PNNL’s high standards for worker safety and health.
