ABOUT CHRISTIAN MÅRTENSSON

I am an open, outgoing, determined and persistent person with a big portion of can-do-attitude. I have many years of experience as an IT architect in big and complex business domains. My biggest strengths and assets are my abilities to see the big picture but still have an eye for details and to collaborate and build trustful relationships with my most important stakeholders from the business and engineering side.To this end, I have acquired seasoned insight and skills in the process of defining, documenting, communicating and governing the digital architecture for big and complex business domains; pre-dominantly in the areas of omni-channel commerce and distributed order management, but also in the areas of retail logistics, CRM and warehouse management. Over the last few years, I have grown a strong interest in concepts related to product management and business agility. Especially concepts such as evolutionary architectures and the importance and impact of co-designing the organization and technology landscape together (sociotechnical architecture). I strongly believe that it always starts with a good understanding of the business problem and different problems require different organizations, architecture and technology to be solved. My experience have taught me that the best results are reached when small, cross functional teams of skilled and committed people are focusing and collaborating to reach a common goal.Since 2018, I have held the position as Lead Architect for the digital Inter IKEA Systems retail operations platform. In this position I have introduced architecture governance and working methods. I have also had a leading role in our transformation journey from being a provider of business processes and software to a provider of software-as-a-service towards the IKEA franchisees. A core contribution to that transformation has been the introduction of a product oriented mindset and defining a product team topology. Over the years in the position I have been on a mission in evangelizing a digital mindset and to raise the digital maturity and awareness throughout our department.Before I joined my current position at Inter IKEA, I held positions as IT architect for the Selling and Customer Planning domains at the largest IKEA franchisee (INGKA), solution architect at ikea.com (web and commerce) and solution architect in the Warehouse Management and Customer Fulfillment areas at IKEA in North America. As a result, I have acquired a broad and extensive business knowledge and system knowledge in these and their surrounding domains.
