WORK HISTORY
Accessibility & Communications @Niad Art Center
Rich City, CA, US
NIAD is a progressive art studio for artists with disabilities that is redefining contemporary art.In community with artists and staff at our sister studios Creative Growth in Oakland and Creativity Explored in San Francisco, and other progressive art studios around the world, NIAD supports and advocates for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are so often marginalized by the mainstream contemporary art world. Through its studio program and gallery, NIAD gives people with disabilities the skills and experience to express themselves, to be independent and to earn income as artists. This nurturing community of artists fosters experimentation, increases competence to make informed choices and fosters connections among diverse communities through the commonality of creative expression. Each NIAD artwork is an original piece of contemporary art that tells an individual story from the perspective of an artist with disabilities. Frequently remarkable, surprising, and engaging, NIAD artwork has become a highlight of the San Francisco Bay Area art scene and has received recognition throughout the contemporary art world.
