About Chris Sano

I lead accessibility strategy for the Calling, Meetings and Devices (CMD) group in the Teams organization at Microsoft.I ensure that accessibility is a core product requirement grounded in global regulatory compliance, usability, and equitable design that enables users with disabilities to achieve comparable outcomes with full agency.I also drive innovation in inclusive collaboration, particularly at the intersection of sign language and AI. I lead the foundational work for our Deaf-led Sign Language Experiences initiative, coordinating planning and execution across data capture, annotation, registration, modeling, and data maturity to support both near term delivery and long-term capability. My role is grounded in deep community partnership and regular customer engagement. I spend significant time meeting directly with users to understand how Teams fits into real world workflows. I use that insight to inform requirements, tradeoffs, and success metrics so our accessibility work remains accountable to lived experience. The focus of my work is on sustaining momentum and raising the bar over time by strengthening decision making, growing expertise across teams, and keeping accessibility visible and accountable at every stage of delivery. I work to turn strategy into durable processes and shared ownership, weaving best in class vision, design, engineering, and research so inclusive experiences scale as the product evolves.I love talking about this work and welcome conversations and connections with others who are thinking deeply about accessibility, inclusive collaboration, and the future of this space, especially as it relates to AI. Please feel free to reach out.
