As much as I love AI, the following words are my own!I help organisations make their tax functions even better. There is no magic, just hard work and experience. The ingredients are publicly available - strategy, governance, process improvement, technology builds and implementations, and data management (and not forgetting AI more recently of course!). I’ve had plenty of practice (and learnt from plenty of mistakes) over 25 years in the Big 4 settings of Deloitte, as member of the Global Tax Leadership team at Barclays and most recently as a partner at EY.Right now, I’m having a break before a new adventure (more to follow in due course). Whilst it would be a lie to say I’m spending every minute of my time of wisely, a lot of it is going on some very serious AI studies with Harvard, Imperial and DeepLearning. I’ve got experience with most taxes over my career, but had more time on corporate tax, tax provisions, VAT and BEPS than anything else. I\'ve been blessed to have great senior roles, always working with amazing teams. Highlights include being EY’s Global Tax Smart Delivery Leader and Global Executive Sponsor for BEPS; Barclays Global Head of Compliance and Reporting, and Global Head of Tax Transformation.I’m a geek at heart and love solving problems efficiently. That’s what keeps me going. Yes, for real!Away from work, I have a love of rugby and coaching. I coach the u18 girls at Beccehamian RFC as well as leading our overall approach to girls rugby. Finally, I’m married to Sarah, have two teenage children, a disobedient Labrador and a cat that’s scared of humans.
