ABOUT CHRIS MARTIN

Coaching teams in civil and environmental engineering to develop altruism, honesty, and psychological safety—bridging rigorous social science research with practical organizational transformation. I bring a unique interdisciplinary perspective to organizational development, combining insights from sociology, psychology, and human-computer interaction. My coaching approach is grounded in evidence-based practices derived from my research on motivation, personality change, workplace dynamics, and social psychology. Academic Foundation: Ph.D. in Sociology (Emory University, 2017) and M.A. in Experimental Psychology (College of William & Mary, 2012). My research has examined unconscious versus conscious motivation, optimal personality change, workplace stress, and the enhancement of wellbeing—work presented at conferences including the American Psychological Association and Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Applied Experience: In my current career, I have conducted research as a postdoc at Georgia Tech, served as a lecturer in psychology at Oglethorpe University. I currently work as the leader of the collaborative innovation program in the civil and environmental engineering school at Georgia Tech. In my earlier career, I worked in user experience design serving four CDC branches and leading agencies including Razorfish and LBi Atlanta. I am also the former host of the podcast \"Half Hour of Heterodoxy,\" exploring the intersection of politics and the academy. Education: B.A. Psychology (Davidson College), M.S. Human-Computer Interaction (Georgia Tech), M.A. Psychology (William and Mary), Ph.D. Sociology (Emory)
