ABOUT CHRIS LAFLEUR
I currently work at SAP SE in Germany as a User Researcher. Here, I am involved in various user research activities, ranging from User Centered Design to perceptual research, in order to help development teams on making informed design decisions. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in (Cognitive) Psychology from the University of British Columbia. In 2008, I completed an 8 month Cognitive Engineering internship, where I was first introduced to User Research, and how much of a positive impact that User Researchers can make in the lives of their users. It was during this internship where I became interested in how we can use perception and attention research to improve the user experience of software products, and ultimately joined the user experience team at SAP.I am also the authour of two research papers, focusing on how to improve search efficiency in application and web design. The first paper I wrote focused on subset search using spatial frequency, which was aimed at helping users more easily navigate through their mobile devices. The second, award winning, paper followed up on my previous research and examined the effects of clutter on the perception of user interfaces. At SAP, I have had a wide variety of responsibilities for many different topics, including summative usability research (Usability KPI studies) of various SAP products, formative usability studies in the SAP Cloud financials area, the development of internal departmental tools, project management, and providing IT and technical support to our user research teams traveling to SAP conferences. Please note: I don\'t accept unsolicited contact requests. If you would like to connect with me, please send me a quick message. I would be more than happy to connect with you if there is a valid reason.
