ABOUT CHRISTOPHER KHOO

Hi, my name is Chris I graduated from the University of Nottingham with First Class Honours in MEng Mechanical Engineering. I have also obtained the Head of Department Award for graduating in the top 10% of my cohort. Whilst at university, I have also worked on the following projects- Tested computer vision techniques in analysing oil flow behaviours- Developed an automated solar panel cleaning system capable of maintaining peak solar panel performance- Programmed a robot is capable of translating text input to physical writing- Served on the student council MARCOMM team- Junior committee for Nottingham Wolves Dodgeball Club I was born in Malaysia and have moved to the United Kingdom in search of data engineering job opportunities. I have previously interned at Samsung and L\'Oréal during my summer break whereby I worked on multiple projects involving- Creating automated Excel files to minimise menial tasks- Programming data pipelines that leverage off existing APIs for e-commerce advertising data- Developing dashboards in Excel and PowerBI to suit local needsI have also taken an interest in freelance work where I have developed a game-like financial system using Google Sheets and Google Script. I am also a self-taught programmer with experience in Python, SQL, VBA and JavaScript In the future, I want to be involved in the data industry as a data engineer or analyst. I strongly believe that data is going to be the oil of the fourth industrial revolution (IR4.0) and I want to be at the forefront of it. That is the motivation behind learning programming on my own alongside my academic commitments. In my free time, you can find me on Spotify searching for new releases from up-and-coming artists or at the go-kart track. My strengths are in creative and critical thinking, problem-solving, being a team player, and having a constant hunger to learn more and acquire new skills.
