About Chris J. H.

Chris J. Harried is a champion for culturally competent education and mental health strategies that expand access for continually under-resourced communities and advance wellness within them. As a Manager of School Success at the National Education Opportunity Network (NEON), Chris is an operational and administrative leader for successfully executing college-in-high-school courses. Leveraging his skills in relationship building, effective communication, and data tracking, analysis, and reporting, Chris supports a transformative educational experience for students from Title I schools. His current portfolio spans school and district partners in the Southeast through the Midwestern regions of the US. Chris’ commitment to educational innovation extends well beyond his work in school partnerships. As a member of the Aspen Institute’s National Commission for Social, Emotional, and Academic Development (NCSEAD), Chris served as an advocate for evidence-based practices to support the holistic, socio-emotional development of youth. He has traveled nationwide engaging decision-makers and thought leaders on the topic of preparing communities to cultivate healthy and inclusive 21st-century schools. Chris was an inaugural Community Service Fellow with HOPE worldwide; an international non-governmental organization committed to the work of poverty relief and disaster response. As a Fellow, Chris provided culturally-affirming summer enrichment programming to Native Alaskan youth and upskilled secondary and undergraduate students to implement inclusive community-building practices. Before joining staff at NEON, Chris began his career as a Teach For America Corps Member working with exceptional learners in his native Baltimore. Under his guidance, his students experienced dynamic growth across social, emotional, and academic domains. Chris holds a Master of Science in Educational Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education and a Master of Arts in School Counseling. He\'s currently a Counseling & Counselor Education Doctoral Candidate at North Carolina State University. In 2018, he earned a Professional Certificate in College Admissions Counseling from the Columbia University in the City of New York.
