About Christopher Baumann

Finance and insurance are my passions! I am a committed college student at the University of Cincinnati who is actively looking for new opportunities to challenge myself and grow in a professional manner. My greatest strength is my dedication and ability to communicate with anyone comfortably and collaborate with them to solve problems efficiently. No matter which job I was working at, customer service was always at the top of the to-do list. At Amazon: I never knew who I would be catering to. Yet, I still desired to positively impact as many people as possible. One of my many assignments at Amazon was to stow items in an animatronic pod that would send the purchased items to the packing area to get boxed. In my mind, the more items I stowed, the more people will be satisfied with their purchase and decide to shop again at Amazon. The company\'s benchmark was for me to stow 350 items per hour, but I made it a personal goal to stow 400 items per hour.At Hoggy\'s: For me personally, my job at Hoggy\'s was undisputedly my most communicative job. During each of my shifts, I would encounter customers with different backgrounds, personalities, and expectations. This customer interaction has developed in me new applicable marketing strategies that have left both the consumers and the company satisfied. For example: when a customer would leave the restaurant, I would say \"I hope to see you next time\" instead of \"have a good one\". This simple trick would subtly implement the idea that there will be a \"next time\", yet still display a friendly sentiment.Even when facing a more informal situation, my dedication is apparent. In sports: One of my favorite hobbies is running. I think running is an amazing way to stay in shape, distract oneself from stress, and find a sense of accomplishment afterward. During my sophomore year of high school, my friends pressured me to join the cross country team. I had never run more than two 5k races before in my life at the time, but I gave in and joined anyway. Practice was brutal, the 5k meets seemed overwhelming, but my dedication eventually paid off. At the end of my 2018 cross country season, I ran the race of my life and made the first team all-conference roster! In short, I have dealt with a variety of situations that have made me more socially well-rounded, physically productive, and motivated to achieve success. Moving forward, my personal goals are to graduate Cincinnati, get an MBA in insurance/risk management, and eventually become a lead project manager for an underwriting department.

Experience

  1. Regional Risk Analyst

    Messer Construction Co.

Jul 2024 — Present · Cincinnati, OH, US

As a Risk Analyst at Messer Construction, I help ensure our projects are set up for success by proactively identifying and managing potential risks before they impact operations. My work supports both our internal teams and our subcontractor partners, helping projects stay on schedule, on budget, and fully protected.A typical day involves several key areas of focus:Subcontractor Risk Assessment: I evaluate the insurance coverage, safety records, and financial stability of our subcontractors to ensure they align with Messer’s standards. This helps reduce exposure to claims and ensures that every partner we bring onto a project contributes to a safe and reliable job site.Regional Collaboration and Support: I work closely with our Lexington and Louisville regions, serving as a resource for insurance and risk-related questions that arise during active projects. Whether it’s reviewing contract language, clarifying coverage, or coordinating with insurers, I help teams make informed decisions that protect Messer’s interests and our clients’ investments. Enhancing our builders risk program: my position plays a vital role in protecting the success and stability of every construction project we take on. Construction inherently involves numerous risks ranging from weather damage and theft to fire, vandalism, and unforeseen site incidents. By drilling down to root causes of these risks, strategic action can be curated and implemented to avoid the majority of such exposures. My role also allows me to combine analytical work with relationship building, ensuring our approach to risk management is both data-driven and people-focused. It’s rewarding to see how this behind-the-scenes work contributes to Messer’s long-standing reputation for safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
