HERS Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission is to support all individuals healing from breast cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of financial status. Mission fulfillment is achieved through several patient assistance programs which ensure that low income and under-insured patients receive products that help them heal physically and emotionally. Our programs are sustained by year-round fundraising, community-led fundraisers (particularly during October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month), and the Foundation\'s annual spring gala and fall walk/run event. Our services are available at Washington Heath in Fremont and Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Leandro and are designed to help individuals overcome the devastating emotional and physical effects of cancer treatment. Our program stores provide a private, understanding environment for breast cancer survivors to be properly fitted for bras and prosthetics, compression garments to address lymphedema, and wigs. Our goal is to support patients facing breast cancer and help to restore their sense of HERS - Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support. The Foundation is a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider and is accredited by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics.
