ABOUT CHRISHAN MENDIS

A strategic business leader with four decades of international experience shaping corporate strategy,finance, global marketing, exports & manufacturing. My career spans senior leadership roles within the Hayleys Group-Sri Lanka’s leading export and most diversified conglomerate, where I progressed from Management Accountant to Managing Director / Sector Head of the Eco Solutions sector and later served 16 years at the Corporate on the Hayleys Group Management Committee, shaping strategy of Sri Lanka’s most diversified conglomerate which contribute 5% to national export income.Today, I operate at the intersection of global markets, marketing and manufacturing. As Director of Haylex UK and Business Development Specialist for DPL France, I lead market expansion, brand positioning, and export across the UK, EU, Middle East, Africa, and Asia. My role include developing new market channels, retails, strengthening supply chains, and driving growth for diversified product portfolios.I strongly believe in innovation, having pioneered and launched many design‑patented natural‑fibre products successfully to global retail markets in the past, and led multi‑country manufacturing operations across Sri Lanka, India, and marketing office’s in the UK, the Netherlands, and Japan. My expertise blends strategic, operational discipline, and a strong belief in building brands that reflect heritage, sustainability, and global relevance.I currently serve on the CIMA Governing Council representing North West England & North Wales (Area 6) and being a Chartered Marketer as well, I continue to contribute to both professions by championing ethical leadership, financial stewardship, marketing and development of global presence.
