Founded in 2023, Collections of Transience started as a project to build a space for Writers of Color through leading a yearlong online writers residency program. Since then, we have hosted three resident cohorts, added a fiction course, and incorporated at nonprofit, gaining 501c3 status in 2025. As the Founder and President I am responsible for- The strategic development and long term vision of the organization- The management of our nonprofit board including scheduling meetings and programming topics - The Onboarding of new volunteers and residents in collaboration with our VP- The pedagogical development of the Residency curriculum in collaboration with the Fiction Mentor- The Legal and fiscal compliance of the organization

ABOUT CHRISTOPHER FONG CHEW
Chris Fong Chew is a nonprofit founder, creative, and doer, who envisions, and executes ideas, drawing on years of creative practice to found organizations, scale networks, and manage complex programs from the ground up. Chris has over five years of experience across education, nonprofit, and different institutional settings, he builds the infrastructure, recruits the people, and drives execution without a playbook. He is currently pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry at Emerson College, where his work explores diasporic literature, literary translation, and the inheritances carried across language and geography. He also holds a Bachelors of Music, Cum Laude, in Piano Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music.In 2023, Chris was selected to be part of the inaugural cohort of the Transformational Leadership Fellowship at Emerson College awarded to six first-year graduate students, and now serves on the Presidential Advisory Committee for Community and Culture. As the Deputy Chair for Graduate Students he represents the graduate community in conversations that shape the strategic vision for the college. In 2025, his poem \"Tea (trade winds)\" was selected as part of the Boston Mayor\'s Poetry Program by the Mayor\'s Office of Arts & Culture and featured in City Hall among fifteen other Boston area poets.Chris is the founder and president of Collections of Transience, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to elevating writers and creatives historically excluded from dominant culture. Founded in 2023, the organization runs a yearlong residency program for writers of color and has since grown to include a fiction course, multiple resident cohorts, and to publish two chapbooks. His writing has appeared in Dear Asian Youth, IMAGE Magazine (OCA), TV Wasteland, and chapbook series from both Collections of Transience and Trident Poetry Collective. He is passionate about the intersections of creative disciplines and where different fields of knowledge can become something more when brought into conversation with one another.
