About Chris Damico
Recently completed my consecutive sea tours as a US Navy Surface Warfare Officer and am currently stationed in State College, PA as an Officer Recruiter serving the Central Pennsylvania Region.Upon commissioning from Villanova NROTC in May of 2021, I began my career as a Surface Warfare Officer with my first duty station on USS JOHN FINN (DDG 113) homeported in San Diego, CA. As the Main Propulsion Division Officer, I supported the ship through required Certifications, Advanced Training Exercises, and an INSURV Board of Inspection prior to our homeport shift to Yokosuka, Japan in early 2023. Once in Japan, I shifted roles to the Ordnance Officer leading the administration and accountability of all Ordnance and Weapon Systems to support advanced Seventh Fleet Operations. Conducted four Patrols in Seventh Fleet, throughout the Sea of Japan, East China Sea, South China Sea, and much of the Western Pacific Ocean. We were the first ship to conduct a Taiwan Straight Transit of 2024.Upon completion of my first sea tour, I received orders to the USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11) homeported out of Manama, Bahrain as the Auxiliaries Officer. As a Principal Assistant to the Chief Engineer, I lead a team of sailors in the maintenance and operation of all propulsion and auxiliary systems to support demanding Fifth Fleet Operations. During this tour, we spent much time in the Arabian Gulf and conducted multiple Strait of Hormuz transits to support operations in the Gulf of Oman. While a challenging tour due to the both the demands of a small crew and the pressures of a highly operational region of the world, it was a very rewarding experience for the opportunities I had to improve my leadership abilities and my proficiencies as a Surface Warfare Officer.While I greatly enjoyed the opportunities I had overseas through my tours in Japan and Bahrain, I decided it was time for me to return to the United States for my shore tour. I was fortunate to receive orders to State College, PA where I will be able to serve the local community to find like-minded individuals searching for a highly rewarding career in the United States Navy.[Opinions shared are my own and do not reflect the U.S. Navy, or affiliated brands.]
