ABOUT CHRIS ANQUIST
Here\'s a few beliefs that guide everything I do-#peoplematter regardless of how they look or make you feel- Integrity is everything- Having a plan is key to success- Collaboration and participation always lead to better results- You can never have enough data, but you must interpret it for it to mean anything-#securityrisk always has context and evolves over time,#securityassessments should too- People fight over the things they care most about- Trust and support your experts and they do their best work. My career started in politics(#cdnpoli). As a 20-year-old kid I put my hand up and said,\"I love angry people”, so I was given the role of managing all the complaints directed towards the Mayor\'s Office for the City of Surrey people). I caught the bug for security. I travelled overseas to do my master’s degree where I met an incredible global network of #securityprofessionals. Came back to Canada and worked with a boutique management firm led by a global business development leader. Supported business transformation through audits. A client eventually hired me to grow their business excellence. I wrote my first real security plan and started learning security capital plan development. In 2016, I supported the City of Saskatoon\'s public conversation about what growth should look like when you\'re projected to double in size in 20-30 years. Was asked if I\'d be willing to build their first Corporate Security program instead. Served on security and protection experts committees, supported Public Safety Canada grant application reviews, completed critical infrastructure assessments and partnered with anyone who asked. Created a positive #securityculture. Drafted, issued and managed +8M in new security contracts. Led technical security systems team, and +50 security contractors. Developed the City\'s first #physicalsecurity program. Wrote complex security capital plans. Performed investigations. Found a new approach serving on #CPTED Review Committee. Led response teams for security incidents… loved every minute of it. In 2021, I was offered a chance to join the world\'s largest privately owned integrated security and risk company. While I\'m now walking amongst giants, GardaWorld feels like home.
