ABOUT CHRIS WEBSTER
As GEI’s Geotechnical Practice Leader, I provide value-oriented engineering solutions for our clients in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation, or abroad. Engaging with clients, employees, friends, and family have formed me as an Engineer. I recognize one of my greatest gifts is being an advocate when the way is not clear - not just solving technical problems but a devotion to personal connections, as a guide through those dark places we know as the Underground.With undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Virginia and Virginia Tech, respectively, I have the best of both worlds. I have enjoyed teaching as an adjunct instructor and lecturer, teaching and learning from our next generation of leaders. I assist new entrepreneurs as a work group leader for the Community Investment Collaborative (CIC) of Charlottesville, including disadvantaged businesses as they evaluate viability and develop business plans for launching/growing their businesses.As an ASCE Fellow and Past President of ASCE’s Virginia Section, I and my fellow peers take pride in contributing to and raising the visibility of one of the nation’s most trusted professions, professional engineering. For me, life as an engineer is about opportunities to work together through joy and sorrow, bringing vision to reality, meeting the challenges of the journey, breathing in that life, and maybe, just maybe, making a difference in someone’s life.
