ABOUT CHRIS STEFFAN
As a Professional Engineer with over 30 years in various industries, a majority of which is in energy, oil and gas (including upgraders, SAGD CPF/WP, LNG facilities and carbon capture facilities as the industry moves to more sustainability), I bring extensive Canadian experience from major EPC/CM consulting firms and from my time in a manufacturing firm. In my last several years, I have led teams of varying sizes (from 5 to 150+ people) in engineering management, project discipline lead, and rotating specialist roles. My focus as their leader was to make sure each project completed successfully, on time, and within budget, while developing the team members so they grew in technical knowledge, project management, and communication skills to help keep the project focus and alignment on the end goal of the project. As the project Engineering Manager on the CNUL Albian STG project the main focus was to maintain the overall team alignment and ensure good inter-discipline and client communication while the team navigated the unusual brownfield issues (lack of as-built documentation and other projects competing for the same space at the plant). A mechanical lead and sub-lead on thirteen (13) projects of varying complexities from a small single-office team (such as the JACOS Hangingstone SAGD Wellpads) to multi-office, multi-company, multi-continent execution (such as the ConocoPhillips Surmont 2 SAGD CPF/WP project), to working from home, I have often adapted standard company procedures and workflows to meet the specific project and client requirements. A priority is to collaboratively come up with solutions to new and unique situations. As a lead I enjoy the process of planning, scheduling, and problem solving with my team to improve the workflows and procedures; and bring them in line with client and project expectations. As a rotating equipment specialist, I have worked with all the disciplines and the client to ensure all the parts of the various equipment packages are properly integrated into the overall project. I have worked in engineering, manufacturing, and sales environments.
