ABOUT CHRIS SKOYLES
I have a broad range of skills and experience in the design of automotive powertrain components and systems, for example, aluminium and steel castings, machine from solid components, rotating components and assemblies, sheet metal parts, fuel and other types of pipes and hoses, ignitions and fuel systems, and plastic moulded components. I also have experience in packaging components/systems into engine arrangements, vehicle platforms, and test cell applications, and the design of test rigs and fixtures for build and machining. I have experience in the design of high voltage battery pack components for light and heavy vehicle applications.I have worked in both small businesses, working closely with suppliers, customers and managing external design resources, and at large OEM’s, working closely with different internal system groups and tiered suppliers.I have also worked on research projects, and component upgrades as the sole designer in the team, requiring close communication with customer and supplier to achieve the project requirements.Early in my career I have had practical experience in metalwork, machining and mechanical work for motorsport applications. The knowledge gained from this means I take a pragmatic approach to design for ease of manufacture and assembly.
