About Chris Seifert
In Amazon Futures I explore how sound, haptics, and all the senses combine to create multi-modal, multi-sensory experiences that consider spatial, immersive, and generative design themes. We leverage user insights, collaborate with design technologists, and work across orgs to bring what the future feels like a bit closer and a little more in focus. Previously I led the Expressions Design Team for Alexa / Amazon Devices (DDG). The multi-disciplinary Expressions Design Team consisted of 50+ Sound, Visual, Motion, VUI (Conversation) Designers and UX Writers. We defined, created, and delivered the shipping product “feel” of Alexa and Amazon Digital Device experiences by activating the senses utilizing sound, speech, text, visuals, motion, touch, and haptics to provide meaningful emotional guidance that is multi-sensory and inclusive. Prior to leading Expressions Design, I was an original member of the Alexa and Echo UX Design team and as Amazon’s first Lead Sound Designer and then Sound Design Manager, I’ve designed or provided design leadership for Amazon Digital Products and Alexa features heard on 1p and 3rd party Alexa enabled products from boot-up to power-down. To deliver Sound Design at Amazon scale, I created and delivered the Amazon Sound Design Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) and have been a Presenter, Guest Lecturer, Speaker, and Panelist at Amazon Design events, contributor of Amazon.Design sound and UX articles, and IXDA and AIGA Design presentations including IXDA Lyon France 2018, and IXDA Seattle 2019.
