Transportation Design Division:Supervise the preparation of design including plans, specs and engineer\'s estimate for transportation projects. Ensure that assigned projects are completed within scope of work, cost, schedule, budgeted resources, departmental standards and practices. Conduct field investigations in connection with the preparation of unusual or complicated designs. Establish and maintain contact with affected agencies, inluding but not limited to, surrounding cities, Caltrans, FHWA, Corps of Engineers, USFWS and SANBAG.Transportation Planning:Supervised, reviewed and directed the long range planning and implementation of the highway master plan compatable with a system of balanced transportation, by coordinating and proposing appropriate future projects. Established the scope of transportation projects in coordination with Transportation Design, Traffic, Contracts and Operations Divisions. Performed engineering planning studies. Prepared and administered agreements between the county and cities, etc.Solid Waste Management:Provided technical oversight of consultants performing engineering work under contract with the division. Reviewed and evaluated engineering plans and specifications, reports and studies. Served as a resident engineer on construction projects for gas/water collection systems and drainage systems. Represented the division at various governmental agencies including cities, state, South Coast Air Quality Management District and water boards.
