This role integrates teams across the structure to provide cohesive services to sub-directorates through a business partnering model, enhancing collaboration with NHS England and supporting external engagement for Commercial and Estates teams.The scale of NHS commercial activity is significant, with around commercial, procurement and supply management professionals spending £30 billion across approximately suppliers, including medical goods and services, office supplies, cleaning, catering and transport services.The NHS Central Estates function manages over 24 million square meters of healthcare estate, ensuring facilities are safe and efficient. It oversees an annual maintenance budget of approximately £1 billion and responsible for reducing carbon emissions by 80% by 2050. Additionally, NHS England aims deliver 48 new healthcare buildings by 2030 as part of the New Hospital Programme.Key Responsibilities- Define and execute clear priorities across the Commercial Directorate- Consultant and advisor to Chief Commercial Officer to ensure alignment with organisational goals- Ruthless prioritisation- Oversee corporate business returns, compliance, and correspondence management.Key Skills- Outstanding relationship management and credibility with senior colleagues- Proven delivery skills for national programs- Strong commercial and operational experience- Strategic development aligned with stakeholders- Problem-solving for complex policy and practical challenges- Enthusiasm, energy, and resilience in a complex environment- Significant people management experience.
