Chris is Head of Sustainability Market Engagement at S&P Global, working at enterprise level to deepen engagement with key market influencers in four areas: Energy Decarbonization, Economic Resilience, Nature Protection, and Sustainable Supply Chains. Chris is involved in boards and working groups of several key initiatives, including Future of Sustainability Data Alliance (FoSDA), Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), World Economic Forum Sustainable Finance Community, Scope 3 Climate Capital, Net Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU), and is also a member of the Taskforce on Nature Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).Previously, Chris was Head of Business Development with S&P Global Market Intelligence. He led a team that consistently overperformed and designed several market leading solutions. Earlier in his career, Chris was member of the extended leadership and management teams at the World Resources Institute (WRI), IUCN/Ramsar, and South Pole. He earned a BSc in Natural Sciences from Durham University, an MSc in Management Research from Oxford University and a Business Leadership Certificate from Harvard Business School-Some highlights and accomplishments- Participated in the design of Sector Transition Acceleration Contracts (STACs) a blended transition finance solution, the legal structure for which received an FT Innovation Award in 2024- Led an ESG solutions team within S&P Global that achieved a tenfold increase in annual new sales between 20••••21, which was recognized with the S&P Global Market Intelligence President’s Circle Award- Established new agreements with leading SWFs, central banks and commercial banks to pioneer new approaches, including a project to quantify the link between climate change and credit risk- Initiated an aviation industry capacity building program in advance of CORSIA, the first industry specific and mandatory global carbon market, which included publication of the ‘how to’ guide and series of workshops organised together with IETA and IATA- Co-ordinated a global multi-stakeholder process to formally establish Indicators within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 6 and 15, which are being used to measure progress in maintaining and restoring water related ecosystems globally- Helped develop WRI’s Global Strategy for 2014-18, defining six Strategic Initiatives that led to an extraordinary growth in revenues and a step change in WRI’s global impact.
