About Chris Owen

I am passionate about people strategy, positive organizational scholarship, and leveraging business as a force for driving social impact. I joined the Microsoft community after completing my MBA/MS at the University of Michigan. Prior to U-M I served for three years in Ecuador with the U.S. Peace Corps, first as a business development consultant and then as a Regional Leader. As a consultant, I equipped two dozen NGOs and social impact start-ups nationwide with strategies for sustainable growth. As an RL, I collaborated with senior staff members to better train and manage over 100 incoming volunteers. Prior to my service with the Peace Corps, I co-founded Legacy College Funding, a financial consulting firm which prepares families for the costs of sending their children to college, and Hosea’s Heart, a non-profit in Swaziland, Africa, which shelters and empowers at-risk girls. My key professional skills include: leading with vision and soliciting stakeholder buy-in, critical-thinking and identifying impactful insights in complex situations, and both written and verbal communication. In my personal time, I enjoy canoeing, hiking, cycle touring, writing postcards and e-books, and creating doodle art.
