It has been my pleasure to be a part of the world-renowned organization of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This dynamic organization is on the cusp of significant expansion that includes over 2300 plus additional new staff with a $12.5 billion investment in a 5-year strategic plan that provides for $2.9 billion in new construction projects.The scope of the Director of Radiation Oncology Clinical Operations & Quality is twofold. The clinical component is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations and management of the department\'s assets; coordinating activities in radiation therapy and directing administrative functions, including billing and budget maintenance for clinical sections, clinical policy and procedure development and implementation, compliance with external credentialing body requirements, supervising staff, recruiting, and retention, training, and development. The quality component leads efforts within the Department (in collaboration with Patient Safety, Radiation Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, and Office of Legal Services) to identify, analyze, mitigate, track, and trend patient safety risks. Focus on patient safety improvement opportunities to identify patient safety gaps and demonstrate a successful reduction in preventable adverse patient safety events. Design and lead performance improvement projects, including failure modes and effects analysis.
